Security Training Phuket
DSD-accredited security training in Phuket — licensing, refresher and bespoke client programmes.
SGS operates a Department of Skill Development (DSD) accredited security training school in Phuket, delivering licensing, refresher and bespoke programmes for officers and clients.
DSD-Accredited Curriculum
SGS holds Department of Skill Development (DSD) accreditation under the Thai Ministry of Labour. Officers who complete the licensing course graduate with a recognised qualification accepted under the Security Business Act B.E. 2558.
Licensing Course for New Officers
Forty-hour curriculum covering Thai security law, post-order discipline, access control, patrol technique, communications, first aid awareness and incident response. The pre-requisite for every SGS guard deployment.
Refresher & Specialist Modules
Regular refresher cycles plus specialist add-ons: hotel hospitality induction, English communication, close protection foundations, fire and emergency response, conflict de-escalation, body-worn camera procedure.
Bespoke Client Training
On-site training delivered to client teams — hotel staff, villa managers, school facilities staff. Topics: incident response drills, lockdown procedure, suspicious package, evacuation marshalling, lone worker procedure.
Senior In-House Instructors
Courses are delivered by long-standing senior SGS supervisors and managers — not contracted lecturers. The instructor team draws on real Phuket operational experience and current case material.
Compliance & Record-Keeping
Every trainee is documented on the SGS training register and the Royal Thai Police licensing system. Certificates, training cards and refresher schedules are maintained for the lifetime of the officer's deployment.
A training school inside the security company
SGS is one of the few security companies in Phuket that operates its own accredited training school. Every officer who deploys on an SGS contract has completed the in-house licensing course before their first shift — not because the regulation demands it, but because the operational standard demands it.
The training school is accredited by the Department of Skill Development (DSD) under the Thai Ministry of Labour, and graduates are licensed under the Security Guard Business Act B.E. 2558 (2015) by the Royal Thai Police.

Why we run our own school
For two decades, the limiting factor on security quality in Phuket has been training — not equipment, not licensing, not pay. SGS runs the school in-house so the operational standard is enforced at the source: the curriculum is updated when our supervisors see something on a live deployment that the next intake needs to know.
It also lets us promote from within. A significant share of our senior supervisors and account managers started as officers on Phuket contracts, completed refresher and specialist modules over their tenure, and progressed through the SGS structure rather than moving between companies.
Bespoke client training
Where a client team needs its own training — a hotel’s front office on lockdown procedure, a villa’s domestic staff on visitor screening, a school’s facilities team on incident response — we deliver on site. The syllabus is built around the property’s actual incident profile and integrated with the existing emergency procedures.

Frequently asked questions
Is SGS training accredited in Thailand?
Yes. SGS operates a Department of Skill Development (DSD) accredited training school under the Thai Ministry of Labour. Our licensing course is the recognised qualification route under the Security Guard Business Act B.E. 2558 (2015).
Can external officers attend SGS training?
We primarily train SGS-employed officers. We can extend places to client teams and partner organisations on a case-by-case basis — typically as part of a contracted training engagement rather than open enrolment.
Do you provide training in English?
Yes. Course materials are available in Thai and English, and we run bilingual delivery for international client teams. The licensing course for Thai officers is delivered primarily in Thai, with English supporting materials.
How long is the licensing course?
The DSD-accredited licensing course runs forty hours, delivered as a combination of classroom modules and practical assessment. Refresher courses are shorter — typically one to two days — and run on a documented cycle for all serving officers.
Can you deliver training at our property?
Yes. For bespoke client training — hotel staff, villa teams, school facilities, corporate ops — we deliver on site. The syllabus is built around your incident profile and the property's existing emergency procedures.
